Cheri's Bio

I have been a Registered Nurse for over 35 yrs., working most of it in the hospital setting.  In 1981, I received a B.A.in Education and Human Development from George Washington University in Washington D.C.  In 2001, I graduated from the Maryland Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine after studying under the direction of Chinese professors and acupuncturists.  I have continued my study of energy medicine through NAET, JMT and Reiki.  I am nationally board certified in acupuncture by National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine(NCCAOM). I am a member of the Acupuncture Society of Virginia and served on its board as president, secretary and board member at large.  I lived in Northern Virginia, practicing my professions and raising my three children until the fall of 2008 when my last child left the nest.  This gave me the freedom to fulfill a long-held dream to move to Maine and experience "The Way Life Should Be".

I am currently licensed to practice Acupuncture in Maine and Virginia.  I carry a nursing license in both states, also.  I am certified as a Reiki Level II practitioner.  I include Reiki and other energy work in sessions as needed.  I continue my studies by attending Chinese Medicine workshops, seminars and the annual NAET symposium.

I believe that each of us is ultimately responsible for our health, and is influenced by the choices we make every day.  Healing can be a very powerful experience.  Greater awareness is vital to understanding what impacts our choices and helps direct us to optimize our well-being.  I am committed to honoring the whole person by working in partnership with you to nourish and promote the ability of the body-mind-spirit to heal itself!
